Mitch Altman, inventor and hacker, is our guest at CopyCamp this year. He’s going to speak about the role of open hardware in society. Mitch is also going to visit some hackerspaces in Poland and hold a series of workshops.

Now that CopyCamp 2016 is behind us we wanted to share a few words on how it went.

This year, the conference took place during Thursday 27th and and Friday 28th of October in Warsaw, Poland. It was the 5th time we have hosted CopyCamp and this year we proudly managed to gather the largest number of foreign conference speakers to date. We had the pleasure of hosting guests representing the countries of the European Union, including the countries of the Visegrad Group, as well as representatives of Belarus, Colombia, Canada and the United States. Around 250 people who attended the conference, as well as our viewers online streaming via google hangouts, heard from a total of 70 speakers. We listened with particular interest to Ms. Therese Comodini Cachia, Member of the European Parliament and the rapporteur for the proposed Directive on copyright in the Single Digital Market.

„...abundantly illustrated view on the copyright system through the ages…” – comments dr Sybilla Stanisławska-Kloc on Konrad Gliściński’s book that will have its première this Friday, 12:00 at CopyCamp (Kinoteka). We invite everybody for a panel where Konrad will discuss the book with Iga Bałos, Anna Gruhn and Jarosław Lipszyc.

Jacek Dehnel will tell us at CopyCamp about using other people’s work in own creations. Jacek is a poet, writer, translator and painter. Laureate of the Kościelscy Prize (2005), Polityka Passport (2006) et al. Four times Nike prize nominee.

On October 27th at CopyCamp we will hear Dimitar Dimitrov from Wikimedia speaking about copyright public policy. On the same day, Dimitar will lead a workshop about advocating for a good copyright reform. Michal Dubovan, Senior Councillor at the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic opens the Friday (28th) CopyCamp session on copyright in the Visegrad Group. He will talk about the Czech implementation of the collecting societies directive.

Copyright as Copyright as an Exemption in Freedom of Information Law. This is the title of the CopyCamp’s presentation of Dániel G. Szabó, a representative of Hungarian Helsinki Committee.
